As the beauty industry luxuriates in the explosion of eyelash extensions, replete with all manner of eyelash dimensions–from natural and fine, to exotic and voluminous and everything in between, a revived technique is making a huge comeback. Yes, I am talking about eyelash lifts!
It is no secret that every so often you need to take a break from your beloved eyelash extensions. Your eyelashes serve a purpose–to protect your eye from debris. However, they are delicate little things that need to be nourished back to health between extension treatments. A good eyelash extension technician will let you know when it is time and when that time comes, there is an absolutely fabulous solution.
Hence, the revival of the lesser known, but equally beautiful lash lift treatment, brought back and improved. Lash lifts do not involve eyelash extensions and it is inadvisable for anyone to get both. Lash lifts take your own natural lashes, no matter how short, no matter how straight, and curls them perfectly so they stand at attention and complement your beautiful eyes. Add in an eyelash tint if your eyelashes are light or very blonde and you have essentially achieved the same look as a natural eyelash extension treatment
Eyelash lifts and tints last 6 to 8 weeks. The treatment itself takes about 30 to 45 minutes, with an extra 15 to 20 if you add in an eyelash tint on top. Following your eyelash lift you can nourish your natural eyelashes daily with, for instance, castor oil (known to help eyelashes grow, in fact!) so by the time you return for your next eyelash lift or go back to your lash extensions you will have kept them healthy and strong.
Eyelash lifts involve using a specially formulated perm solution on your lashes after they have been meticulously curled around a specially selected form, best suited to the length of your lashes and the final look you are after. A very effective, yet gentle cleanser removes the solution after a maximum of 15 minutes, before a setting solution is applied for the same amount of time.
When the treatment is complete, all adhesive and solution is completely removed from the lashes and you can proceed with a lash tint if you want. Your skin is protected the entire time, and your technician keeps a careful eye on the clock in order to ensure perfect setting without damage. The final result is truly breathtaking. It is perfectly fine to apply mascara to the lashes afterward but, trust me, you probably won’t want to. In fact, a lash lift is the absolutely ideal solution for clients who have developed sensitivities to eye cosmetics, particularly mascara, or who have a tough time applying them because of shaky hands or poor eyesight.
With a lash lift, if you need to rub your itchy eyes during allergy season, go for it!!! You will NOT harm your eyelash lift treatment. Go swimming, go to the gym, tan (but please wear sunscreen), sweat, garden, chop onions, watch sappy movies….enjoy your life!
